Waterloo Community Foundation Announces New Executive Leadership
Dr. Wilfred Johnson, President of the Waterloo Community Foundation, announces the appointment of Erin Tink as its new Executive Director. Erin replaces retiring Executive Director Michelle Temeyer.

Calling Waterloo home for the past 10 years, Erin states in accepting the appointment, “I love this city and often find myself bragging about how lucky we are to have the industry, arts and diversity of a large metropolitan areas – all without the traffic. I look forward to leading and working with our Waterloo-focused Board of Directors and serving the needs of this community.
In making this appointment, Board President Dr. Wilfred Johnson states that, “We were very impressed with Erin’s background, her enthusiasm for Waterloo and the experiences that she brings to our organization. As an accredited community foundation, Erin will lead our efforts to grow our endowments and our capacity to engage in community affairs. As our asset base grows, together, we will assure that Waterloo is served now and in the future.
Michelle is retiring as the Foundation’s inaugural director since its formation in April 2015. During that time, the Foundation has received accreditation with the National Standards for U.S. Community Foundations™, established 9 endowments, 9 scholarship programs, 14 donor advised funds and many other funds such as the Racial Equality Fund and Believe Waterloo. During the pandemic, the Foundation launched the First Responders Fund, benefitting the Waterloo Police, Waterloo Fire and Rescue, Peoples Community Health Clinic, UnityPoint and MercyOne. Since 2016, the Foundation has awarded grants totaling over $289,000.
President Johnson goes on to say, “We thank and appreciate Michelle’s dedicated service to the Foundation and look forward to a very successful transition with Erin at the helm. We are poised and ready for the future.”
