Waterloo – Volunteerism is an important way of contributing for Mike and Barbara Henning.  Both are involved as volunteers with youth in the Waterloo Schools and youth in other community programs.  In 2018, the Henning’s initiated the “Quest Scholarship” with the Waterloo Community Foundation that was awarded to a Waterloo Community School Senior.

This year the Henning’s increased scholarship focus to encourage and recognize youth Volunteerism.   The scholarship name was changed to “Youth in Action” Volunteerism Scholarship, the volunteer hour requirement was increased to 30 hours, and the $1000 Scholarship was permanently endowed for future Waterloo graduates.

“We believe that volunteerism improves lives and strengthens our community.  In fact, we were incredibly pleased to see student applicants engaged in their neighborhoods, school, and community through volunteerism.  It just makes us all stronger.”

Both Barbara and Mike are active in many other local and state volunteer environmental and community organizations.

Look back and Be Thankful…

Look ahead and Be Hopeful…
