The Waterloo Community Foundation has received a grant from Variety – the Children’s Charity to fund Koats4Kids.  Now in its 9th year, Koats4Kids is an all-volunteer initiative that provides hundreds of coats, boots, snow pants, hats, gloves and scarves to low income kids in our community.

Julie Ehlers, project organizer expressed appreciation for The Variety grant.  “This gift will be used to purchase “gifts of warmth” for kids.  During this pandemic, we know that families are facing additional hardships of trying to pay their rent, put food on their table for their kids and pay their additional medical bills.  This gift is timely given the situation of our families.”

She went on to say that, “I want people to know that they can help our families for just a $25 donation.  It will mean the world to a family that is dealing with the pandemic.  $25 will buy a coat, hat, gloves and scarf for one child. A donation of $45 adds the boots while $65 will also pay for snow pants.  We have lots of families hurting this year and we as a community can help them in this small way.  It means so much more to us to help as many kids as we can and we can do it with our caring community’s help.”
